Dra. Ester Gimenez is a Professor at the Department of Construction Engineering and Civil Engineering Projects and member of the Institute of Science and Technology of Concrete (Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain). She obtained her bachelor's degree (Civil Engineering) (1997) at the Universitat Politècnica de València and her doctorate doctorate award (2007) from the Universitat Politècnica de València. During her time as a professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (since 1999), she specialised in construction materials. Since 1999, she has been conducting research on construction materials and the environment. Her areas of interest include the evaluation of the pozzolanic reactivity of mineral additions, the recovery of waste in the manufacture of construction materials, and the study of different types of concrete.

Kamila Sałasińska
Kamila Sałasińska, PhD

Kamila Sałasińska is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology, where she earned a degree in Environmental Protection and subsequently completed her PhD and postdoctoral studies in Materials Engineering. Since May 2025, she has been a Professor at WUT. From 2015 to 2021, she worked at the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute, conducting research on reducing the flammability of polymeric materials. Her research focuses on the design and evaluation of polymers and polymer composites, with particular emphasis on materials with reduced environmental impact. She currently leads research within two projects funded under the M‑ERA.NET and LIDER programs, in which plant biomass is used to develop bio‑based flame‑retardant systems. As part of her teaching activities, she delivers courses on topics such as renewable energy sources recycling and life cycle assessment.

An expert in the field of sustainability, circular economy and waste management in particular. Since 2010, a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology. For over 15 years, she has been dealing with issues related to waste management, and in the last years with those related to the circular economy. In recent years, she has been involved in research in the field of sustainable urban development, including issues related to climate change. A participant of national and international research projects and technical studies in the field of sustainable industrial activity. For many years, she has been training business entities in the practical aspects of waste management and circular economy.
